HTC Sense 3.0 - Top Ten Tips & Tricks for HTC EVO 3D & HTC Sensation 4G

Thumbnail image for HTC EVO 3D HTC Sensation 4G(2).JPGOn the eve of the release of the HTC EVO 3D, when it will be popping up at a special RadioShack store in Los Angeles and at Best Buy stores opening up early at 8:00 am, we thought it would help our readers to review the top tips and tricks for HTC Sense 3.0 on the HTC EVO 3D and HTC Sensation 4G.

The good news about HTC Sense 3.0 is that it is very fast, nice looking and full-featured.

Here are the top tips and tricks we've found so far:

Customize Your Lockscreen
Customize your lockscreen so that you can see what you need without turning on the phone.  Go to Settings > Personalize > Lockscreen to show your four favorite apps.

Notifications
When you get a new notification, you can open the Notifications panel to see event notifications or new information.  The Notifications panel lets you switch between recently-opened apps and turning on settings, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.  To open the Notifications panel, press and hold the status bar, then slide your finger downward.  If you have several notifications, you can scroll down the screen to see them all.

Top SHORTCUTS
Quick Apps View - Press and hold down the home key to view recently used apps.
Copy URLs - To copy the address of a linked web page, press and hold the link, and then tap
Copy link URL.
The Way of Widgets
The new HTC Sense offfers many new widgets that you can add to any home screen,  Here's how to add widgets:
1. Go to a part of the Home screen where there's space to add a new widget.
2. Tap the artist pallet icon > Widget icon.
3. Select a widget that you want.
4. Most HTC widgets are available in a variety of designs and sizes to suit your needs.  Slide your finger on the screen from right to left to view the different styles, and then tap Select to choose one.

You can also add widgets that allow you to switch on or off certain settings, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.  Scroll down the widgets list, tap Settings, and then tap the widget that you want.  The Gallery Wdiget is for accessing media.

Declutter Home Screens with Folders
Use folders to group related apps and other shortcuts to keep your Home screen organized.  You can also add information folders that show up-to-date information, such as Bluetooth received files, your Facebook phonebook, and more.

How to Make a New Folder
1. Go to a part of the Home screen where there's space to add a new folder.
2. Tap Paint Palet icon> Folder.
3. Tap New Folder.
4. Press and hold an app icon or a shortcut that you want to move to the folder.
5. Your HTC phone vibrates.  Don't lift your finger just yet.
6. Drag the app icon or shortcut and drop it on top of the folder.

Tap the folder to open it, so you can access the apps and shortcuts inside the folder.

Ride on the Home Screen Carousel
Your HTC EVO 3D or Sensation has a gliding carousel of the home screens that can be changed and edited by adding widgets and apps.

People Need the People App
With the People app, you can manage your communications with your contacts via
phone, messaging, and email.  You can also link your contacts to their social network
accounts, such as Facebook and Twitter, to see their updates and events from these
accounts all in one place.  If you have the same contacts from different sources, People lets
you merge their contact information so you won't have duplicate entries in your
contacts list.

Face Your Facebook
With Facebook for HTC Sense, you can see all your Facebook contacts and their instant status updates in People.  You can see Facebook photos right on the Gallery app.  You can also upload one or more photos to Facebook, then tag and add captions that go with
it.  When you're viewing the albums of a Facebook friend, you can also share a link to a particular album, or comment on the album photos.  Check your friends' Facebook status updates in Friend Stream.  View your Facebook events and your friends' birthdays on the Calendar app.

Sync with HTC Sync to:

  • Sync your contacts between your Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Contacts on your computer and HTC phone.
  • Sync your calendar events between the Outlook or Windows Calendar on your computer and HTC Sensation 4G.
  • Load your photos, videos, documents, songs, and playlists.
  • Easily import your captured photos and videos from HTC Sensation/EVO 3D to your computer.
  • Store the same web bookmarks on both your computer and HTC Sensation/EVO 3D.
  • Install third-party apps from your computer.

Signup for HTC Sense Online Access So You Can:

  • Forward calls/messages to another phone when you accidentally leave your phone elsewhere.
  • Log in to HTCsense.com to remote wipe, lock your phone, or post a message.
  • Manage all of your contacts and text messages from HTCsense.com.
  • With one click, instruct your phone to ring loudly even if its volume is set to low.
  • If needed, you can also remotely wipe all of the phone's data with a
    single command, in addition to forwarding calls and text messages to a
    different number.
