HTC Update News: Desirable HTC Desire Update to Gingerbread without Some Apps

HTC DESire Gingerbread.jpgOn the HTC Facebook page, HTC announced that it would be able to update the HTC Desire to Android 2.3 Gingerbread minus a few apps.

HTC wrote "To resolve Desire's memory issue and enable the upgrade to Gingerbread, we will cut select apps from the release."  Over 1,500 people clicked that they liked the news.

Previously, HTC's UK Facebook page posted an announcement stating that they have not
been able to make the upgrade to Android 2.3 work with the internal
memory on the HTC Desire with HTC Sense.  They also stated, "We're sincerely sorry for the disappointment that this news may bring to some of you."
HTC has been listening to customers and recently said they would unlock bootloaders on forthcoming HTC Android smartphones.

The list of features in the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update are impressive,
with the addition of download manager, active app management,
shortcuts, one-touch copy/paste, widgets, icons, app groups, updated
calendar options, camera geotagging, improved email synching, and camera
auto-focus improvements.
