The Sony Xperia Active will run Android 2.3 and helps runners and others keep active with damage/water resistance, heart-rate monitoring, fitness apps and Facebook updates.
The Sony Xperia Active is so water resistant that you can be kept it under 1m of water for 30 minutes. You can even use the 3.3-inch (320 x 480) touchscreen with wet fingers, which would be great for cooks, divers, swimmers, outdoor workers and shower texting.
Features of the Sony Xperia Active include a 1GHz processor, Bluetooth, aGPS, Wi-Fi, barometer,
compass, and a 5-megapixel camera (with autofocus, face
detection/recognition, flash, and 720p HD video capture).
The Sony Xperia Active comes with a back cover, detachable ear hooks, wrist strap, arm case, a 2GB memory card and micro USB cable.
On-screen heart rate and pulse can be monitored in realtime (enabled by
ANT+ wireless networking technology), while the iMapMyFitness app can
monitor day-to-day performance.
The release date of the Sony Xperia Active is expected to be in the third quarter of this year - when we will see how many Sony Xperia Active activations will be active.
