Sprint Will Develop 4G LTE with LightSquared
Sprint will become a significant customer of LightSquared's 4G LTE network. This information was disclosed in a letter from Billionaire Philip Falcone to investors.
The deal should give Sprint some help competing with AT&T and Verizon.
LightSquared is contributing $14 billion in private investment over the next eight years to build a nationwide wireless broadband network using 4G-LTE technology integrated with satellite coverage.
LightSquared will offer network capacity on a wholesale-only basis. They claim that the 4G-LTE-satellite network will provide much-needed access to consumers, businesses, healthcare facilities, tribal communities, and public safety agencies throughout rural America.
The top current Sprint 4G WirMAX smartphone is expected to be the HTC EVO 3D.
