Samaritans Honored -
A potential tragedy was averted when eleven-year old Layne Cayton and twelve-year old Brendan Maher of Mims, Florida, used a wireless device to call 911 to help save Tony Cayton, Layne's father.  Due
to their lifesaving actions, The Wireless Foundation and CTIA-The
Wireless Association honored them with a VITA Wireless Samaritan Award
at the 17th Annual Achievement Awards dinner on Monday, June 6.MMA NY 6/15-17 - The MMA (Mobile Marketing Association) has announced that the upcoming MMA Forum NY, will be held June 15-17 at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City.
 The forum will feature more than 115 speakers from every segment of
the mobile marketing ecosystem, including brands, agencies, wireless
carriers, publishers and developers.

Samsung Replenish Certified Green - Sprint and Samsung announced that Samsung Replenish has
received Platinum
certification by the UL Environment
, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UL
(Underwriters Laboratories, Inc).  The certification is the first third-party, independent certification to mobile
device sustainability criteria that considers the device's environmental
impact throughout its entire life cycle.

Tablets For Books, Movies, Music and Socializing - A Samsung survey revealed that 90 percent of U.S.
consumers either already own a tablet or would consider buying one.  The survey examined the most common use cases for mobile tablets among
Americans who already own or would consider purchasing a mobile tablet.  The results
include:

  • 76%: reading the news or books.
  • 64%: watching TV shows or movies.
  • 61%: listening to music.
  • 56%: updating their social networking profiles.
