Today is charged with update news for two of the Verizon Awesome 4G-Threesome - the Samsung Droid Charge and HTC ThunderBolt - to Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Netflix functionality shown on the Charge.
New Gingerbread features include download management, better on-screen
keyboard with multi-touch/auto-correction, improved cut/paste, icons,
app groups, updated
calendar options, security features, camera improvements, and improved
email synching (read top Gingerbread tips).
When the HTC ThunderBolt was released, an update was promised for the second quarter of this year, which is almost over. An HTC rep, in an email, confirmed that an update to Gingerbread, which also fixes the reboot glitch, will be "released soon."
The previous update for the HTC ThunderBolt caused reboot problems. Other leaked reports also suggest a June 30 or July 1 update.
A video surfaced showing the Samsung Droid Charge running
Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a rap song, the background, and no
narration. Bloggers are suggesting that, because the update has been
found, a release date is soon.
The video shows changes to the Samsung TouchWiz UI and Android 2.3.3 with Netflix running.
An unofficial rooted version of Gingerbread 2.3 for the Droid
Incredible 2 also appeared this weekend, which we don't suggest you
download.
