An anonymous source has leaked an internal screenshot to Android Central showing an August 4th release date for the Droid Bionic, which fits in with our calculations and what our readers have been told by Verizon reps.
Please be forewarned that Verizon Wireless often changes release dates, and we will not officially know until the Tuesday before the Thursday release date.
August 4th is four weeks after the July 7 switch to tiered data plans,
so new Verizon customers who want to get on the unlimited bandwagon and get the Droid Bionic
would have to resort to a plan B, which we've updated from some our Facebook fans' suggestions.
The screenshot also confirms the July Droid III (3) release date as July 14. The release date leaked for 3rd-party retailers. The smartphone, when directly labeled by Verizon has a "3" but in this shot is "III" leads us to believe that the leak was from a third-party retailer, which means the July 28 release date that we calculated, yesterday, may be correct when bought via presale, direct order from a Verizon store/online, and August 4th for third-party retailers.
The Droid Bionic will be the first dual-core processor smartphone with super fast 4G-LTE connections.
Previous leaked photos showed the Droid Bionic to have an enhanced large 4.5" touchscreen,
Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, MotoBlur-style 3D home screen
carousel, connections to a laptop dock, possible GSM radio (for world
access), a 4.5" touchscreen and a 1750mAh battery.
Previously announced specs include HDMI-out 1080p connection, a front-facing VGA webcam
8MP camera, 512MB RAM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth and GPS.
It may have an unlocked bootloader.
