The saga of the Droid Bionic ever-changing release date continues. Here's a round-up of updates from the Droid Bionic release-date odyssey:
- A guy who works at WalMart posted an internal document to a forum that shows the Droid Bionic release date to be August 4. He wrote, "Usually when a release date is posted on the Walmart internal website,
it's pretty accurate..." - The Walmart date is the same as a leaked screenshot from Android Central on July 4.
- Last week, Verizon teased a summer Droid Bionic release date.
- The Droid Bionic from Motorola (IHDT56MX1) was filed at the FCC on July 1. Usually, release dates are about a month or so from the FCC filing. The filing shows a 1735mAH battery, which should help with 4G LTE access. Signals include CDMA 800/1900, Bluetooth, and LTE Band 13. It does not have world global roaming.
- A Best Buy ad surfaced of the Droid Bionic, showing HDMI mirroring, a dual-core processor, video chat and wireless data transfer.
The Droid Bionic is the smartphone that Droid and 4G LTE fans are waiting for because it combines the speed of a dual-core processor with the speed of the Verizon 4G LTE data network.
After the Droid Bionic original release date was delayed for remodeling in April, rumors and leaks suggested the following specs:
- Enhanced, large 4.5" touchscreen.
- Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.
- MotoBlur-style 3D home-screen
carousel. - Connections to a laptop dock.
- Previously announced specs include an HDMI-out 1080p connection, a front-facing VGA webcam
8MP camera, 512MB RAM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth and GPS.
