Motorola has released an update for the Motorola Atrix 4G to upgrade it to Android 2.3.4 with NFC, data, download management and more.
The update requires that you download software to your computer from Motorola and then copy it to your Motorola Atrix's microSD. You have to download the latest version of Android 2.2 software first.
The entire upgrade process will take approximately 25 minutes. First download the file and save to your computer as "Blur_Version.4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US." Then copy it to the microSD card on the Motorola Atrix. You will need approximately 200MB of microSD card memory available.
The list of features in the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update are impressive,
with the addition of download manager, active app management,
shortcuts, one-touch copy/paste, widgets, icons, app groups, updated
calendar options, camera geotagging, improved email synching, and camera
auto-focus improvements.
We do not know yet if this update unlocks the bootloader.
Features of the Motorola Atrix 4G include 1GB RAM, a 4-inch QHD (960 x 540) touchscreen,
HD video viewing and fingerprint login security,
a front-facing VGA video camera, a 5MP rear camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and
a 1930mAh battery. The price of the Motorola Atrix has been slashed to $99 with a contract from AT&T. You can buy a laptop dock that turns it into a laptop.
