The Motorola Xoom's price was reduced $100 recently, adding value to the dual-core processor tablet, and now it seems that the Xoom will get the first update to Android 3.2 Honeycomb.
Update 07/13/11 The update is rolling out today. Read details.
An Android team member posted that the Motorola Xoom should be getting the update to 3.2 in the "coming days."
The update includes glitch fixes and better hardware acceleration. The Movie Studio, Movies and Music apps
will all be updated, and the factory widgets are redesigned.
We scanned the Android developers and saw some mentions of Android 3.2 and NFC. The update may support Near Field Communications.
Honeycomb 3.1 update enables you to "check now" for updates.
So for those who are awaiting updates, you can now tap the "check now" button until your Xoom
finds an update.
A feature not needed by the Xoom is that Android 3.2 2 will support tablets with 7-inch touchscreens and will support tablets with Qualcomm processors. Once Google releases the update, the tablet makers will need to make it work for their models. It may be months before the 7-inch HTC Flyer will get an update from HTC.
