iFixit took one apart and noticed some good and bad features of the Samsung Galaxy S II. They call the super AMOLED touchscreen impressive, while the battery is not. In order to make the Galaxy S II really thin, the case had to be thin too, and the back plastic cover is "really thin and fragile." The speaker is very small, affecting sound quality.
ABI research noted that every component of the Samsung Galaxy S II is new and that the Samsung Exynos 4210 dual-core processor is the most powerful on the market.
The name Exynos combines the Greek words for 'smart' and 'green,' indicating Samsung's energy-efficiency goals for the design." The Exynos dual-core apps processor has amperage specs roughly similar to the Tegra 2.
The Samsung Galaxy S II features a new single-packaged, multi-band, multi-mode PA from RFMD, as well as a new CMOS-based antenna switch. It has a new lower-power XMM6260 cellular chipset from Infineon.
Reviewers of the Samsung Galaxy S II are calling it the
iPhone rival and giving it Editor's Choice Awards. In other countries, the model is outselling the iPhone.
