T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide Rated 4.2 out of 5 by Wireless and Mobile News Review of Reviews

Reviewers of the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide found it to be an excellent choice for those who need a super fast smartphone with a keyboard on the T-Mobile network.  The T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide was advertised as having no lag and being the fastest best camera for a phone, which lead two reviewers to report that the camera does not live up its hype.  The camera is almost as good as a digital camera but falls short sometimes in speed and in indoor lighting.

The added-on HTC Sense 3.0 UI was well-liked for its excellent Facebook and Twitter integration (read HTC Sense tips).  Reviewers rated call quality from average to good.  Media playing for video and audio was praised.  In order to get the keyboard on board, it makes the handset heavy, which lead one reviewer to call it a brick.  The keyboard is well-spaced but flat.

Data speeds were considered fast by two reviewers and slow by another.  Wi-Fi calling worked but did not have as good quality as cellular voice.  Viewing Netflix movies was good over both Wi-Fi and 4G data, with some buffering.

Sascha Segan at PCMag rated the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide 4.5 out of 5 for its fast speed, excellent camera and very good keyboard.  He didn't like that it is brick-like heavy, and the voice quality was only average.  However, he gave it editor's choice for keyboard smartphones because it is a powerful truck of a luxury phone.  The keyboard is good.  The Genius Button worked well for voice dialing but didn't work with Bluetooth for text dictation.  Data speeds were very fast - as high as 5Mbps down.  Wi-Fi calling worked but wasn't as good as cellular.  HTC Sense 3.0 is the best at Facebook and twitter integration.  Photos and video were clear with most features working fine.  Media-space playback for audio and video was stellar.

Jessica Dolcourt at CNET rated the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide 4 out of 5 for speedy 4G, fast dual-core processor and great multimedia features.  She didn't like the flat keyboard, and the camera doesn't live up to its hype.  It's heavy but sturdy.  She liked the dedicated camera button that you can use even when the phone is locked.  The camera software has facial detection and special effects.  The backside-illuminated BSI sensor is supposed to improve the camera's speed and performance in low-light.  ClearShot HDR combines three photos into one.  SweepShot makes a panoramic view.  Outdoor shots were as good as a digital camera, but indoor shots were not.  Call quality was pretty good, and data speeds were as high as 5Mbps downloading.  She did not have time to rate the battery life (read battery life tips).

Brian Oliver Bennett at Laptop rated the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide 4 out of 5 for solid QWERTY keyboard, fast camera, Netflix streaming and fast dual-core processor.  He thought it was a bit heavy.  The screen was not as sharp as the HTC Sensation 4G qHD (960x540) touchscreen.  Video playback, however, was smooth over Wi-Fi and 4G.  The 4-row keyboard is well spaced and has a dedicated @ key, www key and Genius Button.  The HTC Sense UI is slick with social-media integration.  Benchmark tests were excellent and way above average but not as good as the T-Mobile G2x for graphics.  Call quality was good, and the camera, for photos and videos, had fast-producing, clear results.  It is the best keyboard option for adults over the Sidekick 4G.  He thought it was heavy and found the data speeds to be relatively slow.
