Verizon Wireless Droid fans who want a big, roomy keyboard and dual-core processor will be able to buy a Droid 3 through direct online and in-store sales on July 7 and through retailers on July 14.
July 7 is a special day for Verizon because that's when new customers will have to buy data by the GB and not have the option of unlimited data (read work-around article). Those with an original Droid are nearing upgrade time, and if you already have an unlimited account, you will be grandfathered for unlimited data.
The latest leaked documents show that the Droid 3 has "30% faster graphics than it's predecessor." The Droid 2 Global has a 1.2GHz processor. The Droid 3 user manual was also leaked.
Newly-Discovered Features from Droid 3 Manual:
- Smart dock - Droid 3 remembers last dock settings.
- A special voice-recognition key on the keyboard for voice search and voice commands.
- Media player.
- HDMI mirroring for playing HD content on an HD TV.
Previous leaked specs of the Droid 3 include a dual-core processor, 4" 960 x 540 qHD touchscreen, an 8MP
camera (1080p video capture), a 5-row QWERTY keyboard, HDMI-out port, a front-facing
camera, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MotoBlur, GPS, 16GB of storage on board, mobile hotspots (up to 5) and a
microSD card slot.
The Droid 3 does not come with a preinstalled microSD card.
BlockBuster video, via Wi-Fi and Swype software, are preinstalled.
