Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi owners were blessed with an update to Android 3.2 Honeycomb this week, and Verizon Xoom owners should be getting an update in the coming weeks (soon), and may even get a chance to access the Verizon 4G LTE network.
The 4G LTE upgrade will require a new module that will require the Xoom to be shipped back to Motorola. On July 12 the FCC approved the LTE module for the VZW Xoom tablet. Once hardware is approved by the FCC, it can be weeks or up to a month until the hardware is supplied to consumers.
The software update includes application zooming (Xooming) and SD card support. The app
zooming features allows apps that are not made for the large Xoom tablet screen to zoom to fill the screen. The graphics may, however, look pixelated if designed for a smaller Android screen.
The Xoom update also offers glitch fixes and better hardware acceleration. The Movie Studio, Movies and Music apps
will all be updated, and the factory widgets are redesigned.
The Honeycomb 3.1 update enabled you to "check now" for updates.
So for those who are awaiting updates, you can now tap the "check now" button until your Xoom
finds an update.
