Although most HP TouchPad tablets were sold out over the weekend, there is hope for buyers who want to get a good deal.
It was reported today that Best Buy is sending HP TouchPad tablets to stores where you may be able to find one. It's worth asking at your local store, they will blow-out quickly. There were lines reported at stores that had them in stock.
Update 8/25 11:24 AM: People who ordered HP Touchpads online over the weekend from Office Depot and OnSale are receiving confirmations that their orders have shipped. According to an HP Twitter feed, the best place to get an HP TouchPad is through the HP online store by signing up for a notification. We have called and emailed the HP PR rep to find out what will be happening with the AT&T 4G HP TouchPad and Pre 3. We received an official statement.
Update 8/24 2:47 PM: Some online retailers who took orders over the weekend are unable to fill orders and are cancelling the sales.
HP earlier this week created a notification sing-up page and HP.com is showing "coming soon."
The HP TouchPad has many features that work, you can browse the web, get email, view documents, view video and read books via
Wi-Fi in full color. You can even print to an HP printer. For $99 you could use the TouchPad, for note pad, doodle pad, colorful desk pad/coaster, bathroom reader (not in the tub) digital photo frame and even as a kid's Etch-A-Sketch.
The HP TouchPad was second to iPad in a recent survey.
It's worth checking the HP online store to see if goes back in stock. The best time is usually in the wee hours of the morning night. We are hoping that you could use a coupon code for even more off $15 off orders of $75 or greater at the HP Home & Home Office Store. Exclusions Apply. Use code: SAVE15HP! But have not been able to verify that the coupon code works.
We also noticed that HP announced an AT&T 4G version of the HP TouchPad those also may go on sale at discount. We definitely don't those tablets made with rare and toxic metals to wind-up in landfill.
We also think that in a month or so, HP TouchPads will will show up on eBay from owners who realize that they can't use the tablets as expected.
]]>Motorola could not figure out how to update Android 1.5 on the
Motorola Cliq XT.
He thinks that if a developer wanted to buy an HP TouchPad to
play with as challenge, fine but an average consumer, should only buy
the TouchPad for its software and compatibility it already has.
Buyers should also note, It is not clear what kind of technical support
you will be getting for the HP TouchPad once it completely
discontinued. It could be like the Yugo, it was great deal, but didn't
run very well and getting parts and repairing it were a nightmare. You have to decide for yourself if you want really want a TouchYugo or YugoPad.
Still, I had a friend once, who sold a Yugo, that was barely running for $500. Now that was a miracle.
Here are some Yugo jokes:
What do you call a Yugo with a flat tire? Totaled.
What's included in
every Yugo owner's manual? A bus schedule.
What do you call a Yugo that
breaks down after 100 miles? An overachiever.
How about some TouchPad jokes?
What's the difference between and iPad TouchPad? $400
How many TouchPad owners does it take to screw in a light bulb?
