A new Samsung Galaxy smartphone will be seen on the beach, in the rain and maybe even mud wrestling, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover.
The publicity photo shows Samsung Galaxy Xcover covered in mud. A press release that says the Samsung Galaxy Xcover can withstand 30 minutes in water up to 1m deep. Which is excellent news for those of us who admit to dropping a phone in either the toilet or have it fall out of a pocket while cleaning the pool listening to Slacker Radio.
A recent incident of spilled water next to a notebook computer cost our editor about $800, water spills on smartphones can cost about the same if you don't have insurance.
The Samsung Galaxy Xcover has hard shell cover design and a 3.65 inch screen that is scratch-resistant and made of tempered glass. Other features include 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash, and 7.2Mbps HSDPA. The is IP67 certified enclosure protects the smartphone against dust and dirt.
So far the Samsung Galaxy Xcover has only been announced for Germany for an October release date. However we know that many Samsung Galaxy smartphones appear in Europe first such as the Samsung Galaxy S II and them come to States.
