In June there was a report that the next Nexus smartphone with a pure Google experience would be the Nexus Prime and be a super variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II series. New rumors have surfaced suggesting that Google has not made a final decision yet on what manufacturer will make the Nexus Prime which has also been referred to as the Nexus 3 and the Nexus Plus.
Google has been given some incredibly fast high-powered dual-core choices from five different makers to show off the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Here's what has been offered to Google for the next Nexus, the Nexus Prime:
- Samsung supposedly is offering a smartphone with dual-core 1.5 GHz OMAP4460 processor from Texas Instruments. We think a Super AMOLED HD touchscreen would be part of the Samsung design. Sources have also been told that Andy Rubin at Google likes Samsung. Some believe Google has issues with the processor. Although Samsung usually uses its own processors, Google is planing a big marketing campaign with Texas Instruments. For poets the consensus is that the Nexus from Texas will run like a Lexus.
- The HTC Nexus prototype apparently has a dual-core 1.8 GHz Krait Snapdragon MSM8960 Qualcomm processor, that processes more with less power.
- Surprisingly, "Intel Inside" maybe new the saying for Android. Intel has a secret partner for super thin smartphone that apparently has been seen by an unnamed source. Intel is inside the first Google TV and Chorme notebook.
- It is also rumored that LG sent Google a demo-unit with a dual-core 1.5 GHz OMAP4460 processor. While Sony Ericcson sent a design with a with dual-core 1.2 GHz Scorpion Snapdragon MSM8x60 processor.
Silicon Valley insiders think that Samsung is the lead maker for the Samsung Nexus Prime. Android and Me, editor Taylor Wimberly is hoping for HTC and a Krait when the Nexus Prime comes out of the gate.
The Nexus One, came out in the begging of 2010 with its very one webstore and T-Mobile as the first carrier. The Nexus S had a December 2010 release date. Most likely T-Mobile will be the first carrier for the third round of Nexus smartphones.
The question for holiday shoppers is that will the new super Nexus Prime be ready for prime time in time for holiday gift buying? We can't be sure of the release date but it would make a nice purchase with a holiday bonus.
