Samsung is planning a launch event in New York on August 29  for the Samsung Galaxy S II series of smartphones.  Prior to the event,  it has released a video on YouTube that may not have millions of devoted followers and may become controversial (video follows).

Although the Samsung Galaxy S II will be a super smartphone, superimposing it with phrases on Buddha and a statue that looks like Jesus Christ with the phrase "Millions of devoted followers," could be considered offensive by some. There could also be scandalous implications about the American icon of freedom the Statue of Liberty.

We think that some Christians, Buddhists or American patriots may find the video distasteful and even shocking.

We know some people are very devoted to their smartphone but have a different relationship with wireless devices than with God or spiritual leaders such as Christ or Buddah or even a patriotic iconoclast.

Here's a list of Samsung Galaxy S II big comparisons:

  • It's big in Europe (shot of red bikini panties and garters on Samsung Galaxy S II over London guard).
  • It's packing a huge screen (shot of statue of David with fig leaf on Samsung Galaxy S II).
  • Rich luscious color (shot of luscious lips on Samsung Galaxy S II over the Mona Lisa's face).
  • StatueofLibertySGSII.JPGDual-core processor (hamsters in a cage o on Samsung Galaxy S II over Ferris wheel).
