Sometimes there is nothing more confusing than the naming of smartphones. and tablets. It's pretty clear that the Samsung Galaxy S II series comes after the Samsung Galaxy S series. The Droid 2 came after the Droid and was followed by the Droid 3. The Droid Bionic has special 4G LTE features.
However, where it gets really confusing is when they are are phones that are the Samsung Galaxy followed by an other letter. We're not going to get into here how the carriers then change the name of the smartphone after the model name , such as with the Verizon Samsung Stratosphere which may or may not be a Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone.
A leaked document shows the Samsung name scheme. Samsung will continue with Samsung Galaxy S brand followed by other letters Premium - "R" (Royal, refined), High-Tier - "W" (Wonder), Mid-Tier "M" (Magical) and Entry level - "Y" (Young minded). Prices will be higher for the premium models.
Models will get additional indicators the world "Plus" for increased specs or features without a design change. "Pro "will be used for QWERTY smartphones as it is with other brands. LTE will be used for handsets with LTE support.
We assume that tab will continue to be used for the Samsung Galaxy tablets.
Yesterday, there were a bunch of rumors about the features of the next Samsung Galaxy smartphones. We did not cover the rumors because they were really out of even the Samsung Galaxy. Features reported were a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD screen with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
Usually large companies do not respond to rumors that Samsung posted to its blog:
"Some media have been reporting that Samsung is preparing to launch
nine new smartphones and two new tablet devices. While Samsung is
continuously working on new devices for our customers, the details being
cited are not accurate in this case.
We appreciate the interest in our upcoming mobile devices and will share more information once its available."
Meanwhile the blogsphere continues to publish only anything from anywhere about Samsung smartphones.
We will know more about the Samsung Galaxy S II in the United States after the August 29 release reveal in New York.
