  • Kyocera Echo UpdateKyocera is distributing an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Kyocera Echo.   The update does not support NFC or Wi-Fi calling.
  • Nokia Switches to # System - Nokia will name its phones by numbers only. The first number is the relative price/feature point. So a Nokia 900*
    would be top dog and a Nokia 100* is the most accessible option. The
    second two numbers gives each device a unique identifier within that
    point.
  • Nokia & Microsoft Event 8/17-  Nokia and Microsoft are planning a party in Cologne Germany on August 8,  leading bloggers to contend that there will be a Windows )hone announcement.
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab Hi-Res - A Korean news website reported that Samsung is working on a 7" high-resolution touchscreen for the next Samsung Galaxy Tab model.
  • Google Buys Dealmap -  Google has bought Android development firm Dealmap that makes software for daily deals such as Groupon and Living Social and maps it.
