Before Boost Mobile begins offering the Samsung Transform Ultra, it will increase the price of the its unlimited talk-text-voice-web plan by $5 a month from $50 to $55. The plan can be reduced by $5 every six months via the Shrinkage plan down to a minimum of $40 per month.
The price hike will start on October 6, existing customers with an Android smartphone will be grandfathered until they buy a new smartphone when they will be charged an additional $5 a month but won't lose Shrinkage plan standing.
The Samsung Transform Ultra is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread and features:
- Full QWERTY keypad.
- 3MP camera with video.
- 3.2" touchsreen.
- Wi-Fi.
- GPS.
- Front-facing VGA camera.
- Bluetooth.
- Speakerphone with voice-activated dialing.
- Supports microSD cards up to 32GB (2GB card included).
- Voice mail, caller ID, call waiting and three-way calling.
The Samsung Transform Ultra will be available Oct. 7 for $229.99 (excluding taxes).
"As all carriers are learning, the costs to run smartphones on the network are higher," Sprint spokeswoman Jayne Wallace told FierceWireless. "Most BlackBerry plans have had an add-on for the same reason, and we need to continue to invest in network capacity to ensure the best customer experience on the Boost Monthly Unlimited plan with shrinkage."
I think that boost should honor all their current customers by not changing the 5 dollar increase even if they upgrade or start a new plan shrinkage plan for only new customers 55 dollars & shrink the bill to 35 but now every 6 months for 24 instead of 18 months.
