Droid News: Droid 2 Global Gingerbread Update Stopped-R2-D2 Updated Too

R2-D2-Droid

The update to Android 2.3 for the Droid 2 Global from Verizon has been stopped and suspended until further notice.

The problem was due to Microsoft Exchange glitches causing "not enough" memory errors.  Motorola determined what caused the problem and found a fix.

Forums leader Matt, wrote "We've looked into this Microsoft Exchange encryption issue with the recent software update, and we know what's going on. The update has been temporarily suspended to allow us to address this. We anticipate the update to be available soon when it is ready, and it will take care of this. Sorry for the hassle, and thanks for reporting this."

The Droid R2-D2 is also getting an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The list of features in the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update are impressive, with the addition of download manager, active app management, shortcuts, one-touch copy/paste, widgets, icons, app groups, updated calendar options, camera geotagging, improved email synching, and camera auto-focus improvements.  Read Gingerbread tips.

The update includes new Active sync support for data encryption for memory and HTML email

  1. How come the droid x received the Vcast app store but none of the 3 versions of the droid 2 got it? did it receive criticism from being there and they updated gingerbread by having it not be there?
