Google Android OS to Carry Intel Atom Tablets (CarryPad) and Smartphones for Pairing & Sharing

CarryPadGoogle and Intel announced today that future versions of the Android operating system will be optimized for the Intel low-powered Atom processor as well as other processors.

At Intel's Developer Forum Andy Rubin made an appearnce and showed an Andorid tablet codenamed CarryPad running an Intel Medfield procesor. .” Intel also demoed “Intel Pair & Share” software, for notifications and media syching.

This effort should bring Intel processors to Android smartphones and tablets faster. Intel claims that it's processor will reduce power consumption.  Battery drain is a major problem as smartphones get faster and require more power.

"By optimizing the Android platform for Intel architecture, we bring a powerful new capability to market that will accelerate more industry adoption and choice, and bring exciting new products to market that harness the combined potential of Intel technology and the Android platform," said Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini."Together we are accelerating Intel architecture and bringing new levels of innovation to a maturing Android platform."

Google recently bought Motorola, its Android OS also supports Motorola Android tablets and smartphones such as the Droid Bionic.
