Google has bought restaurant rating Zagat. This will give Google the upper crust on local food search.
The anouncement of Twitter came in Haiku:

The Google blog posted the title "Google just got ZAGAT Rated!"
The buy-out doesn't mean that Zagat guides will bre free Zagat. has no plans to change its current concantent srtategy.
Howver Marissa Mayer, VP of maps aodn lcoation services for Google wrote "
s, I'm incredibly excited to collaborate with Zagat to bring the power of Google search and Google Maps to their products and users, and to bring their innovation, trusted reputation and wealth of experience to our users."
She also noted "'Today, Zagat provides people with a democratized, authentic and comprehensive view of where to eat, drink, stay, shop and play worldwide based on millions of reviews and ratings."
Nina and Tim Zagat wrote "We are thrilled to see our baby placed in such good hands and to start today as official "Googlers."'
