HP Changes CEO: Meg Whitman Leads HP & HP TouchPad Buyers Will Know Soon?

Meg Whitman TouchPadThe rumors were right, yesterday, Meg Whitman has been named President and chief executive officer of Hewlett Packard.  Ray Lane, who served as  chairman is now executive chairman and participated in a conference call today.

Yesterday, we were wondering what it would happen when Whitman became leader of HP. Although investors will be watching her leadership and are asking questions during a conference call, our readers want to know, "How do I get an HP TouchPad for $99?

"The only thing that will deliver results to the company is confidence, which we will restore," Whitman said during an investors conference call today.

When asked how she plans on managing the PC unit process, Whitman said "We going to get to decision on the PC unit as soon as possible and then tell our customers and investors at what we are going to do. We will get to decision as fast as we can, it will remove uncertainty."

Whitman met with HP members and "We've got a great set of leaderss...employees want to believe in HP.  They want to be part of company and want it to succeed. We can restore HP to its proper position in the Silicon Valley."

"If the HP PC division can't be stronger on the outside, it will remain inside," said Lane.

The HP TouchPad was hottest selling tablet in the history of bargains, knowing what will happen with the PC division of HP will at least give an inkling on the how, where, if and when HP TouchPads will be sold again by HP.  Although those who bought the $99 TouchPads are selling them for over $200 a piece on Meg Whitman's former company eBay.

Earlier this week,  we learned that HP started laying off Palm webOS  employees.  Remaining HP employees on 9/28 will be able buy discounted new stock of HP TouchPads.  It was reported that an additional 100-200K TouchPads are being made in China.

Canalys reported that if HP could gain 10% of the tablet market, it could double or increase the value of the HP PC Division.  It would come at a great cost, because HP TouchPad tablets cost over $300 in materials each to produce.

When eBay started they allowed sellers to list to for free, maybe there will be some HP TouchPad freebies on the horizon for people who still believe in miracles...Whenever they do come on sale they sell out very quickly.
