HP News: Leo Out eBay's Meg in? Will HP TouchPad Come Back?

Palm webOSHP appears to be awash in rumors with many changes afoot.   Bloomberg reported that the HP board may oust CEO Leo Apotheker for former eBay CEO Meg Whitman as a successor or interim replacement.

The board is also considering selling the HP PC division. Unfortunately, the board decisions do not help HP TouchPad buyers get a super-cheap HP TouchPad 16GB for $99, the hottest selling tablet in the history of bargains, with a number two ranking in SocialNuggets Tablet Index.

Here's something interesting to note Meg Whitman ran for political office in California and so did Carly Fiorina the former CEO of HP!  Meg Whitman lost to governor Jerry Brown.  Carly Fiorina lost to Senator Barbara Boxer.

We were wondering, since Whitman spent $144 million from her own personal funds to fund the election maybe Whitman will sell all the HP computers and TouchPads cheaply on eBay or maybe the whole PC division.

The HP TouchPad’s low price is just right, according to the SocialNuggets Tablet Index for August. The HP Touchpad intent to purchase went to the number two position.  Asus Eee Pad Transformer with its $399 price point was sold out and had the highest net perception for tablet pricing.  So what can we learn? According to social media conversations, the ideal price for a tablet is now between $99 and $399.

Yesterday, we learned that HP started laying off Palm webOS  employees. Remaining HP employees on 9/28 will be able buy discounted new stock of HP TouchPads.

HP chairman Lane Ray Lane an interview with CRN said hat a final decision has not yet been made on how to sell the HP PC business unit "If...we can't offer a better proposition to customers and investors...it stays inside HP."
