DigiTimess reported that HP suppliers are preparing for one last TouchPad run to be sold and be released in early October.
The report says that HP has ordered 100,000 to 200,000 TouchPads. However it is not known if these TouchPads will sell at the way-below-market $99 for 16GB and $149 for 32GB models.
The original run of 800,000-900,000 HP TouchPads was delivered and sold-out due to rock-bottom prices.
Those who signed up for notifications received special offers from HP while the email notification page is not longer valid.
HP employee Byrna tweets say "The alert site was taken down a few days ago b/c of high demand. We're
looking at new ways to keep y'alls informed & have things be fair.
Most recent tweets are trying to let people down easy "Given the new found love you have for it, I just want to set some expectations that some of you will have hearts broken."
People now are begging with videos and other ways to get a $99 TouchPad. If you wait a year they will $99 again but something better may be out.
The FAQ posted by confirmed that HP would honor sales made over the big sale weekend and give discounts to those on the email list, but now it looks like some cheap tablet-lovers will have their hearts broken.
"All those who requested notification have received a one-time
exclusive offer along with their email as our thanks for their patience
and loyalty throughout this situation."
Meanwhile hackers such as Team-TouchDroid have found a way to dual-boot it with Android but the touchscreen is not fully functional.
