HTC News: 10" HTC Jetstream Streams LTE from AT&T with 9/4 Release Date

HTC JetstreamAT&T announced the HTC Jetstream  a 10" tablet that can use an optional HTC Scribe pen and the new AT&T LTE network.  The release date for this Android 3.1 Honeycomb tablet is September 4 with a $699 price tag.

The HTC Jetstream is AT&T's first 4G LTE/HSPA+ tablet and the first tablet with HTC Sense using Honeycomb.  HTC Sense offers HTC Watch, HTC Hub and HTC Friendstream.  Features include a 10.1" touchscreen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 7300mAh battery, microSD.

The tablet market is becoming more crowded, while the iPad reigns followed by the HP TouchPad.  The HPTouchPad when it was released did not sell well until HP discontinued it and discounted it to $99 then it became the second best-selling tablet.

The HP TouchPad's demise led to its comeback , but it is still not clear what the price will be.

Analyts have pointed out that the $700 price of the HTC Jetstream could hinder sales.  most smartphones that sell for $100 or $200 are subsidized by the carriers.  Tablets are not subsidized and cost over $300 in materials that why $99 for the HP TouchPad is such a great deal.  For $699 you can buy a high-end notebook computer.

AT&T postpaid tablet customers now have a new $35, 3 GB monthly
data plan option with a two-year contract. Customers who do not choose a
long-term commitment may still select one of two existing monthly
billing options:

plan who exceed their monthly data allotment will be charged $10 per 1
GB of overage.  Charges will appear on customers' monthly wireless
    statements.
  • Prepaid:  $14.99 for 250 MB or $25 for 2 GB. Customers on the 2 GB
plan who exceed their monthly data allotment may choose to purchase an
