Sprint is the first U.S. carrier to offer the Samsung Galaxy S II, re-branded as the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, with a 4.52" Super AMOLED touchsreen and 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It is the successor to the Samsung Epic 4G, released last year, without a QWERTY keyboard.
As of noon today, online retailers had the smartphone backordered with shipping dates next week or later. There does not appear to be a shortage in Sprint stores, yet. We called our local store and were told that it was in stock.
GLBenchmark and Quadrant tests for Samsung Galaxy S II models show higher scores than most of its competitors on Sprint and other networks.

The Samsung Epic 4G Touch, sells for $199 from Sprint with a rebate, Amazon Wireless is selling it for $149.99 for new and renewing customers and is backordered for 8-9 days before shipping. Wirefly sells it for the same price, shipping 9/20 Tuesday.
The most recent reviews and hands-on impressions are mostly positive praising the Super AMOLED touchscreen, fast processor and capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy S II however many noted that there are more powerful smartphones coming in this fall.
Samsung has been heavily promoting the Samsung Galaxy S II in an iPhone-like way with comparisons to greatness in an effort to try to make the Samsung Galaxy S II number one in the United States. Sprint touts it as "Super thin, super fast, super sweet."
