As suspected, Verizon Wireless announced that will launch a new $50 a month unlimited prepaid plan with unlimited text, talk and web access online  and in Walmart, Best Buy and Target this Thursday, September 15.  The program is called Unleased but buyers can only leash the plan to select feature phones.

As we noted before, the Unleashed plan will only work with select features phones, which was confirmed by Verizon spokesman Ken Muche.Verizon.   Unleashed feature phones currenty on sale are the LG Accolade ($39.99), LG Cosmos slide-out QWERTY candy bar phone ($99.99), and QWERTY-keyboarded Pantech Caper ($79.99).

Ken Muche sent an email which states that other phones may be elligible for this plan, "Phones that can be used with this plan are only those sold as part of the phone-in-a-box package. Any previously sold phone-in-a-box is eligible for use with these plans which means there is a universe of close to 30 phones eligible for this plan."

Verizon Wireless also offers per-day deals at $1.99 per day for unlimited talking to any number, with 2 cents per text and mobile Web browsing for 99 cents per day.  The other option is 99 cents per day for unlimited calling to Verizon phones or 10 cents per minute to other carriers, while texting costs 10 cents per message to other phones, and mobile web browsing costs 99 cents per day.

It looks like the Unleashed phones use Verizon 3G data-only we have a call and emails out to Verizon spokespeople to cofirm the data access.
