The fall and holiday smartphone release season is upon us. After six months waiting for the Droid Bionic it will be released on Thursday September 8 while the Samsung Galaxy S II from from AT&T. will have a September 18 release date and the Samsung Epic 4G Touch will have a September 16 released date (preorders are being taken already). The LG Thrill 4G came out, yesterday. So it's time to play release date roulette.
All of these smartphone powerhouses have dual-core processors and some with 4G data access. Is it time to take a new smartphone plunge or should you wait for all the goodies coming out just in time for the holiday season?
When making any kind of smartphone decision before you go into the store or start reading reviews think about what it is that you really need your smartphone to do for you. Do not stray from your needs, listen to your heart and please check the sales associate's facts.
If you are on a budget and looking for a cheap deal, in a few months time, all of these powerhouses will be greatly reduced and many of which will be free or close to free with a contract. When a smartphone is released and it features cutting edge technology it is the highest priced.
If you are bound by a contract from your carrier, you'll have to choose from the smartphones available from your carrier.
The iPhone 5 is looming for release sometime in October and will even be available from Sprint for the first time.
Let's look at your choices if you are a data hog and consume massive amounts of data for video and like your browser flying at the speed of light, Verizon's 4G LTE network is currently the fastest data provider going, followed by T-Mobile and Sprint's WiMAX. AT&T is expected to have 4G LTE smartphones next year. If you are a position to choose a carrier right now, you should always check coverage in your area by coverage maps.
Another problem that exists in the smartphone choice dilemma is that carriers announce smartphones just days or at best even a few weeks before launch. This practice started after former delays of smartphones that were announced then bounced. Leaked information shows that even more powerful and higher featured smartphones are coming in just a few months.
If you are impatient and can afford to upgrade any time you want to and are not worried about an early termination fee, Thursday, September 8 is your gotta buy a Droid Bionic day. If you have any patience at all and still are a power user, you'll wait for the Samsung Droid Prime, that is expected to have a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 4.5" touchscreen and primed for release date in time for the holiday. If you need a keyboard, then the Samsung Stratosphere may be your 4G LTE type.
AT&T customers may want to wait to see what's coming on the iPhone 5 or even untill next year when LTE will be available. Reviewers of the LG Thrill 4G suggest waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S II from AT&T for Android users.
Sprint customers will have more choices than ever before, iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Epic 4G Touch? The choice boils down super AMOLED or super cool.
T-Mobile customers will probably be the most confused because they can't be sure whether they're going to stay as T-Mobile or be merged with AT&T, making wait and see a great approach. The most promising smartphone choice in the next few months is the Samsung Hercules Samsung Galaxy S II with no announced released date.
Prepaid buyers such as MetroPCS and Cricket' will have to wait a while to be able to get the same kind of power.
