Attention all those who want a cheap HP TouchPad the deal is back except this time you also have to buy a computer to get the full-featured tablet for $149.99 from Best Buy.
Starting Tuesday, November 1, at BestBuy online and in stores November 4, you can get the 32GB TouchPad for $149 when you buy an HP or Compaq laptop, desktop or or all-in-one PC. The 16 GB TouchPad model is completely sold-out. The offer is not valid with netbook computers.
The deal is on a first-come first-serve basis. For those waiting in line at BestBuy stores, an hour before the Best Buy stores open, employee will hand out tickets, you can't get a TouchPad without a ticket. An hour after opening any unclaimed TouchPads will be available without a ticket. Returns will only be accepted within in 14 days. If you return the computer you have to pay full price for the TouchPad.
Meanwhile HP's official HP TouchPad page states "We are now announcing that while some retailers will have limited stock available, HP’s online inventory is depleted."
Last week, Meg Whitman announced that HP would keep its PC Division and the HP TouchPad would run Windows 8.
The HP TouchPad sold-out and flew off the shelves when it was reduced to $99 for 16 GB and $149 for 32 GB. A second run was sold-out to employees who spent the whole day ordering HP TouchPads with some complaining about the loss of work time.
Currently the HP TouchPad sells for over $200 on eBay. HP closed all of its HP Palm retail stores. Then gave away autographed HP TouchPads in a contest.
BestBuy employees warn taht there are no TOuchPads currently in stock one said "NO, BEST BUY DOES NOT HAVE ANY HP TOUCHPADS IN STOCK. I work in the computer department. We do not, and I repeat, WE DO NOT HAVE ANY HP TOUCHPADS. "
