Current top of the line Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets are expected to be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in 2012.
Samsung Italy confirmed that Samsung will update the Samsung Galaxy S II , Samsung Galaxy Note and some Tab tablets to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. In the past, after European models of the Samsung Galaxy smartphone updates were announced, U.S. models followed. Usually, the U.S. models take longer to update because the updates are tested by the U.S. carriers.
Samsung has not put a time frame for the update on the high-end devices and has not confirmed with mid-level smartphones will get the update.
The models that will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich are:
- Samsung Galaxy SII
- Samsung Galaxy Note
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
The recently announced Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be the first smartphone to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Motorola will update the Droid Bionic, Droid RAZR and Xoom. HTC has not announced what models will be updated.
