Sprint announced it is offering new data plans with greater gigabytes for the same price. The new plans cost $49.99 for 6 gigabytes of data a month (previously $60 for 5GB) or $79.99 for 12 gigabytes of data a month (previously $90 for 10 GB).
Sprint claims they offer 20 percent more data for the same price as equivalent plans from Verizon and AT&T.
One gigabyte equates to 6,667 Web pages, 2,000 or 67 extra YouTube videos each month.
Mobile hotspot and tablet users can also sign up for a $35 plan that includes 3 GB of data per month, or a $20 plan that includes 1 GB of data per month. Overages cost $0.05 per each additional MB consumed when on network, and $0.25 for each additional MB consumed while roaming.
The new plans replace all previously available Mobile Broadband plans and are available to new and existing customers.
Sprint is the only carrier with unlimited data plans for smartphones. It recently ended unlimited data for mobile hotspots and tethered use.
