Sprint launched Sprint Mobile Controls, a service that gives parents a web dashboard where they can see the activity of their children's usage and set limits. Sprint is offering a 30-day free trial.
Parents Can:
- Set the phones to lock when they are at school or after bedtime.
- Lock a teen's phone on demand during dinner or family time.
- Gain insight into who the kids' text the most.
- Choose up to three anytime apps that children can use when their device is locked.
- Palce the parent as anytime contact so that the parent can be called even when the phone is locked.
- View list of apps installed.
- Explore contacts and see "friends" names. Set limits on texts, calls and games.
- Allow kids to override phone restrictions in case of an emergency.
Sprint Mobile Controls is available on all Sprint CDMA Android smartphones for $4.99 per month per line and includes a 30-day free trial.
I’m a new parent and like to set rules but also like open communication and to explain the reasoning behind them so this will offer the perfect opportunity to do so. This is definitely helping me choose my new service provider since I am currently out of a contract and looking for my first smart phone.
I already favored Sprint because I get a discount for being a DISH employee and now I think I’ve made my choice. I am looking forward to the ability to get apps though I know they are a security risk so will try to keep it limited. Right now, I have my heart set on two apps, the DISH TV Everywhere app and the Amazon Barcode app. The DISH app will let me watch TV anywhere including live TV and recordings and the Amazon Barcode app will probably save me quite a bit on groceries and other regular shopping items.
