At CES, Viewsonic showed the ViewPhone 3, a dual-SIM Android smartphone that will cost $279 unlocked.
Whey would anyone want a phone to have two SIM? If someone have a different cell phone number for work and one for personal use, the ViewPhone 3 will enable the use of two different phone numbers. The numbers could even be from different carriers. But there are more reasons when you roam around the country and globe.
If you have a problem with network coverage, with the ViewPhone 3 you can switch to the other SIM card and network .
You can save when traveling between countries and can insert two SIM cards (one from each country) to make sure are always making local calls to save on roaming costs.
You can also use the best carrier for the best priced function. For example, one SIM card can be used for unlimited 3G data while the other SIM is used for making voice calls only.
The ViewPhone 3 runs Android 2.3, has a 800MHz processor, 5 megapixel auto focus camera and is GMS compliant. The ViewPhone 3 supports GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA and HSDPA networks. It features a 3.5 inch HVGA TFT capacitive touchscreen, 512 MB memory, Wi-Fi, GPS, AGPS, FM, Bluetooth, microSD slot and 1500mAh battery
The ViewSonic has added on the ViewScene 3D customized user interface.
