Google Nexus Tablet to Play Kindle Fire Cheap Tablet Competition?

There is a new round of Google Nexus tablet rumors this week and it looks like it will fire up the competition not to the iPad but to the 7" Kindle Fire.

The price point is where it gets good, the Nexus tablet is expected be priced at either $199 or $249 and be made by the most popular Android tablet maker around, Asus reportedly by DigiTimes.

The Nexus tablet may be announced as early as May.

Asustek won out over HTC and Acer because  of its ODM(original design manufacturer) capabilities and product quality.  The best feature of any Google-branded product is that it gets the latest updates to Android almost as soon as they are available.

The Nexus tablet will apparently be the first device with the new Google Play market on it.

Asus has some powerful, yet cheap tablets up its sleeves, including the mini Transformer Prime the Asus Memo 370T with a quad-core processor, 8MP camera, 16GB of storage,  and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.  The Asus Memo 370T was named the best tablet at CES.

Many believe that the Google Nexus tablet with at least match or better the Asus MeMo 370T.

This has been a big week for tablets, with announcement of the news iPad that has already sold-out its first round of opening day delivery.

Kindle Fire rumors are also heating up, with the most recent suggesting a 10-inch Kindle Fire in the works to take aim at the iPad.

2012 could be a year where we finally get a good full-featured $200 tablet, which of course can't ever beat out the legendary 10" HP TouchPad for $99 during the tablet fire sale of the century.
