The iPad preorders were busy depleting stock in less than 24 hours of availability and now if you want to get your hands on an iPad by March 16, you have to join your friends inline at your local Apple, AT&T or Verizon store.
Apple limited preorders to two per customer and when you go to the Apple website all Wi-Fi and 4G new iPad models all show "ships by March 19." While the Apple website claims that the new "iPad is a magical window where noting comes between you and what you love."
The new iPad officially goes on sale March -16. If you plan to be line waiter, we've found some tricks that may help you in your quest for the latest and greatest iPad.
Call your local Apple store first, before line waiting or on the first day of sale. Sometimes the reps know how many iPad tablets will be stock giving you a rough estimate of odds of nabbing the wanderlust-pad. In the past in major metros, by noon stock of iPad was depleted.
If you are going to buy a 4G LTE new iPad, Verizon or AT&T stores will probably have shorter lines. Sometimes your carrier rep will hold one for you in advance if call or go into the store. We called our local Verizon store and were told that new iPad sales were "First come, first serve" on opening day.
After the first day of sale, calling and making reservation at your local Apple store will better your chances of getting stock.
Be careful to bring a non-Apple branded bag to carry it home. We would like to remind you that when the original iPad came out, there were many robberies. In fact, one iPad buyer lost part of his finger when an iPad bag was ripped from his hand by a thief.
