Verizon Wireless has released a list of smartphones and tablets that it are scheduled to be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There is only one surprise in the list and it rhymes with "time."
Basically, 4 LTE smartphones released in the fall and later in 2011 plus the HTC ThunderBolt, Droid Incredible 2 and HTC Rhyme will be upgraded. The tablets updated will include the Motorola Xoom, all Xyboard tablets and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1/7.7.
Verizon will update details of the updates throughout the year. We are compiling a list of all ICS updates that we have published so far with links to details.
Since Motorola has been bought by Google, Motorola products are plentiful in the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update list. Smartphones include the Droid Bionic, Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX and Droid 4. Motorola tablets inlcude the Motorola Xoom, Droid XYBOARD 8.2 and Droid XYBOARD 10.1. Please note the last day for the 4G LTE update for the Motorola Xoom is March 31.
The only LG product that Verizon sellls that willl be updated to Android 4.0 is the LG Spectrum.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus was shipped with Android 4.0 out of the box while Verizon plans to update the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and 10.1.
HTC will be updating many of its Verizon releases including the HTC ThunderBolt, Droid Incredible 2, HTC Rezound and HTC Rhyme.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich adds some features such as Android Beam, Face Unlock, a new UI and improved camera (see all features and video).
