Today is the first of many new policies and smartphones at AT&T. AT&T is offering new Windows Phones and also phones that completely off contract can be unlocked.
Starting today, AT&T will unlock smartphones of qualifying customers, who are good standing and:
- The device cannot be associated with a current and active term commitment on an AT&T customer account.
- The contract term must be fulfilled, upgraded under one of AT&T upgrade policies or paid an early termination fee.
AT&T has kept iPhone locked to it, meaning that you can't a SIM from another carrier in this country or another country to work with other networks.
After your two-year contract is finished or if you pay the early termination fee on any smartphone including iPhones, AT&T will unlock it.
Then why would you buy a new smartphone? Because last year's phone don't connect to the new faster 4G LTE network.
Meanwhile if you are looking for a new smartphone today is big day for AT&T with the Nokia Lumia 900 that claims that the smartphone beta test is over and the HTC Titan II a super camera phone with a 16MP camera. The motto for Windows Phone is where smart meets cool. While the Nokia Lumia is called "beautiful and simply faster for $99.99."
Windows Phones have integrated software that brings the most used features to live tiles, automatically uploads photos and does not have to be unlocked to use the camera.
