- AT&T has turned on its 4G LTE network in the greater New Orleans area on both the Northshore and the Southshore, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Naples, Florida.
- Sprint launched free STS. "My Wireless STS" service enables individuals with speech disabilities to simply dial a short wireless code – *787 – to place an operator-assisted call. A Speech to Speech (STS) operator listens to the conversation and repeats the words of the person with a speech disability to the other party. STS users can access the *787 service from anywhere in the country 24 hours a day, 365 days per year – and at no charge to the user.
- CTIA supports Ssenator Schumer's legislation and believe sit will be an important tool in the effort to combat the theft of wireless devices.
- Cellebrite announced its fourth update of the year for the company’s flagship Universal Forensic Extraction Device (UFED).
- Samsung has begun producing the industry’s first four gigabit (Gb), low power double-data-rate 2 (LPDDR2) memory using 20 nanometer (nm) class technology.
- T-Mobile introduced new prepaid no-contract mobile broadband packages at 300MB 1-week pass for $15, 1.5GB 1-month pass for $25, 3.5GB 1-month pass for $35 and 5GB 1-month pass for $50.
- ABI Research reported global LTE subscriptions are expected to exceed 40 million by the end of 2012, representing a fourfold increase over the nine million global LTE subscriptions in 2011
