The Samsung Galaxy S III is in the news again. It's coming to a new U.S. carrier, an update is in the works, college students can win free Samsung Galaxy S III and celebrities appeared at the latest round of customer appreciation  parties. Samsung continues to win awards and expand its chip manufacturing production.

MetroPCS announced at a news event in New York city new 4G LTE smartphones including the Galaxy Mini, a 4.3", ZTE smartphone and "Coolpad." The Samsung Galaxy S III will be available later this year. MetroPCS also announced the  $55 per month truly unlimited LTE plan but did not specify if it would be available withe the SG S3.  The price is expected to be around $500.

A new pirated rooted version of Android 4.1 has become available for the International version of the Samsung Galaxy S III suggesting that a Jelly Bean update may be coming soon.  Previously it was rumored that a Jelly Bean update will be announced at the big Samsung event on August 29. US owners of the Samsung Galaxy will probably have a longer wait.

The European Samsung Galaxy S III won the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) award in the  mobile phone category.

We're still trying to find the kiosks to download free music, we suspect there may be some RadioShack promotion University of Southern California (USC) promotion until Thursday. RadioShack reported that they will have 75 pairs of Auvio In-Ear Headphones for the first 25 students between 8 AM and 10 PM who show their student ID.

Samsung Electronics reported it will spend about $4 billion renovating its chip factory in Austin, Texas while Houston is the preferred party venue.

  1. MetroPCS does have a pretty cheap unlimited data plan. Prepare to pay a premium on metro($400+) for this phone
