Motorola is pushing out the update to Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) software upgrade for Motorola Atrix 2. The software upgrade 67.21.125.MB865.ATT adds ICS, Smartactions and removes some widgets and features. We're hoping this means good news for Atrix 4G owners who were previously promised an update in Q3.
Once you upgrade, you cannot downgrade back to Android 2.3(Gingerbread) software after this upgrade.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich adds some features such as Android Beam, Face Unlock, a new UI and improved camera (see all features and video). The update removes some of the MotoBlur features.
The update adds the SMARTACTIONS app that automates routine, everyday tasks and suggests ways to personalize your phone and make your life easier. This app can help you extend your battery life and do things like automatically send a text to certain missed callers. The update adds the ability to take screenshots by holding both the power and volume down keys for a few seconds.
For a successful installation, make sure that your Atrix 2 is at least 50% charged and you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. It's always a good idea to backup your data/media files first.
