The first smartphone to be launched with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Verizon Wireless Samsung Galaxy Nexus is finally getting an update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Previously the updated was out and then removed.
SW Version JRO03O, is ready to download. Galaxy Nexus owners are advised to connect to Wi-Fi and navigate to Settings > About Phone > System Updates to start the update process.
Android Jelly Bean 4.1 has added some features with a better keyboard and is faster/smoother (read features).
There have been some bugs reported with this update, sometimes Google Voice Search doesn't work with a Bluetooth headset and softer speakers. A favorite features is offline voice dictation. The update does fix signal issues with the Galaxy Nexus.
It is always a good idea to backup your data and have your Galaxy Nexus at 50% charged before the update.
Earlier this week, Google posted the Android 4.1 Jelly Beam factory image, for those who prefer to install a manual update. The process is not for the weak or novice Android user.
It's about time...
