Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Update 2 Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich Out

Samsung Galaxy Tab updateThe update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is rolling out from Verizon Wireless. The update is rolling out in phases. Which typically to only a few users early on in the week and expanded to a larger audience from Thursday on through the weekend.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich adds some features such as Android Beam, Face Unlock, a new UI and improved camera (see all features and video).

In general  it's always a good idea to backup your files before you start the update and  have your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 at least 50% charged.

The browser now has a desktop view option. There is a notice from Verizon Wireless:

  • Important Note: The on-device Data Usage meter may not match the amount of data for which the customer will be charged by Verizon Wireless. The My Verizon Mobile app reflects billable data usage and best indicator of how much of the current month’s data allowance has been used and more.
A recent UCLA study showed that carriers bill for the data sent to the customer, not what data is received therefore users get charged for data they didn't use.

Download and installation should take 10 -15 minutes. Keep in mind that during the installation you will be unable touse your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Software update size: Approximately 248MB.

If you are roaming you will have to enable Wi-Fi to download the update. You will be notified that a system update is available on your tablet. Selecting Download now will take user to the Update Manager to start the download.
