AT&T and T-Mobile have enabled roaming on their networks to customers of both companies to ensure connections with compatible devices.
AT&T reported that a vast majority of its cell sites in the Northeast are online and working. On Tuesday, the Federal Communications Commission said that about 25% of cell sites were out of service and the conditions could worsen with power outages.
If you are at T-Mobile or AT&T customer, make calls as usual, your calls will be automatically routed to whichever network is available.
T-Mobile and AT&T networks are based on GSM and UMTS standards, which allows for this sharing of voice and data traffic.
T-Mobile does not have 4G LTE therefore if you are an AT&T 4G LTE customer, you may notice slower data. As storm victims have realized slow data is better than no data.
The news release claims that they are taking extraordinary measures to make sure our customers can stay in touch.
If you are having trouble making connections, you can try switching your SIM to any device you have to see if those bands have better coverage.
