Book Review: Zen of Social Media Marketing

The Zen of Social Media MarketingThe entire landscape of media and marketing has changed exponentially in the past few years. Many web publications are playing catch up to figure out the best social media marketing strategies. There is  now a quintessential guidebook to help.

Previously, Wireless and Mobile News was honored with a social media intern Jamie Goldberg and at that time, I could not find or recommend a book for her to help guide her through the social media maze.

In 2013, Wireless and Mobile News will have a new intern Cody Thach who will charged with social media marketing and research. Fortunately for us, we discovered a book that will be the basis of his training and also the enhancement the staff's understanding of social media marketing, "The Zen of Social Media Marketing, 3rd Edition" by Shama Kabani.

The book offers well-researched insights into different aspects of social media including the addition of Google +. I was impressed with the depth of the book as well as the topics covered.  I wished we had this book when we first started our foray into social media.

Kabani not only relies upon her own expertise but offers advice from guest experts for the writing of some chapters.  Case studies illustrate how social media marketing works. Subjects covered include online marketing basics, websites/blogging, SEO, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook ads, web video and social media policies.

The book covers almost everything you need to know about social media before creating a social media marketing strategy. Newbies will find the necessary explanations while veterans will discover details that will enhance their strategies.

As a long time member  of the Book Publicists of Southern California, I appreciate the time and care that goes into a book that is designed to educate and empower. The Zen of Social Media Marketing, 3rd Edition is well written and a great gift to those who need to navigate and explore the brave new world of social media.
