Oh it must be grand to be the best, fastest, biggest at CES, and now there's a claim of the thinnest. Here's the skinny on the latest smartphone launched at CES to make the "est" claims -- the ZTE Grand S.
Formerly the iPhone 5 held to slot as the thinnest smartphone(7.6mm) and Chinese maker ZTE claims the anorexic award, for now at 6.9mm. ZTE also packed its svelte smartphone with a high-end features to capture sales and attention.
The ZTE Grand S also follows the trend started by the Droid DNA, followed by the Huawei Ascend D2, a 5" screen. The process is a notch above the Ascend D2 with a 1.7GHz Snapdragon Processor. Not only is it thin, it has an opening for a microSD card which the Droid DNA lacks.
The ZTE Grand does have a 440ppi 1920x1080 HD screen, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean,
The primary camera is 13MP and the internal memory is 2GB which can be supplemented with a microSD card.
The camera offers advanced functions for more vivid self-photography and video calling effects including h face recognition, anti-shake and a panoramic functions. The ZTE Grand S also features Dolby Digital surround sound.
The only way to make it so skinny was to lower the battery capacity to 17800mAh and it even packs 4G LTE network access.
It will be available for online sales in China the first quarter of 2013. No plans have been announced for an American version. ZTE does make smartphones sold by U.S. carriers.
