The LG Optimus G was named one of the top smartphones of 2012. While at CES there were some great demos showing some of the neat features of the LG Optimus G including transparent video zoom, QSlide and QuickMemo.
While rumors are circulating about about the next LG Optimus G, the The LG Optimus G2 which may be announced after the next version of Android at Google I/O in May, the LG Optimus G is readily available at a discount. Sprint is offering a buy one get one free deal while online retailers have discounts as high as 50%.
We were surprised at the advanced features that many LG Optimus G reviewers missed.
The LG Optimus G has IPS technology which makes the screen look very bright. Brian Scollo of LG demoed some features for us at CES. Video Zoom lets you zoom into video in real time, with up to 5X zoom. QSlide lets you multitask in real time. While watching a video, you can check your email and adjust the opacity of the screen as you watch both.
How to use the QSlide Function
1While watching an on-device video, touch the image on image button .The video continues to play as an overlay on your phone.
2. Use the slider to adjust the transparency of the overlay.
3. Touch the smilely face with a speech bubble on it to send a text while in QSlide mode.You can also make a call, browse the web, or choose other phone options.
4. Touch the QSlide reverse color button exit the QSlide function.
QuickMemo, lets you take a screenshot of everything you are on. You can write in different colors and erase them. You can then share to sharing applications. The cool thing is Quick Memo QSlide. You can write down a phone number and then go to the phone dialer. Then you can go into contacts and add the phone number while it is still being shown.
How to Activate QuickMemo
- From any screen, swipe down on the Notifications Bar and touch QuickMemo.
- Use your fingertip to draw or write on the screen.
- Touch the pen to change the pen type or color.
- If you make a mistake, touch the eraser to access the eraser, or touch the back button to undo your last pen stroke.
- To save your creation to the Gallery, touch the save button. Touch the share button(looks like a greater than sign with dots) and follow on-screen instructions to share your memo.
- To exit QuickMemo at any time, press the Back Key.
