Samsung Galaxy S III/Note II Win, Nokia Lumia Loved & iPhone Declines

Engagement market shareSocial media and customer experiences are a big influence in the smartphone marketplace, according to Amplified Analytics.  In its latest report that mined social media engagement, Samsung with its Samsung Galaxy S III, Note and Note II became the king of customer engagement in 2012. Amplified Analytics reports  there is large correlation between the number of reviews published online and number of units shipped.

Samsung sales are leading the rest of the brands due to social engagement.

"What Samsung did right, with the Samsung Galaxy S III is that it kept the same name and model number across carriers, making it easier for customers to engage with the brand," said Gregory Yankelovich  analyst Amplified Analytics ."The Samsung Galaxy Note and Note II as other great examples of this strategy."

These two smartphone also come in the best top smartphones from Wireless and Mobile News' Review of Reviews 2012.

In terms of total overall engagement,  Samsung held 31% of all customer communication, HTC 23%, Motorola 18%,  Apple 12%, LG 7%, RIM 5% and Nokia 5%, from total of 52,517 in 2012 monitored.

The Samsung Galaxy S III was the most often reviewed smartphone in 2012 (5,048), which the report notes is remarkable considering its late shipping date. The Apple iPhone 5 was second (3,185) and iPhone 4S third (3,096) in engaging with customers.

The top Advocacy rating of 2012 is shared by 2 Windows smartphones - HTC Titan II (NPS=55) and Nokia Lumia 920 (NPS=55). The basement is occupied by LG Cosmos 2 (NPS=-68), Motorola Droid 2 Global (NPS=-55) and LG.

Apple's iPhone is showing signs of waning, noted Yankelovich, "When Apple launched the iPhone it offered great customer experiences but now there are platforms that are catching up to Apple."

Windows Phone users just love their experiences with the platform, noted Yankelovich. 17% of Nokia Lumia users left their iPhone 4 for the Windows experience.  The Nokia Lumia 920 also can be operated with gloves, pencil or pear.

  1. The Nokia Lumia 900 may not yet be available for purchase, but it already has a rabid Windows Phone following. And thus much is expected of Nokia’s new flagship smartphone with its large 4.3-inch screen, and around back of this solid unibody design (available in cyan and black) is an 8-MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics. We’re excited about the possibilities of the bundled Nokia GPS to help this smartphone find its way down the lane. But its AT&T’s 4G LTE speed that could make a difference here. We liked this phone so much we named it Best Smartphone of CES 2012 .
